(Miami Haze x Cookies n Cream)
The multi award winning Hazelnut Cream is a hybrid created by Mike of Exotic Genetix, consisting of CubanGrower’s Miami Haze and his infamous F1 Cookies n Cream male.
In 2017 the Dablogic cut of Hazelnut Cream was selected from an initial pool of 72 seeds. The majority of the expressions were narrow leaf, terpinoline-type plants with greasy resin. However, our top selection showed to contain no terpinoline and exhibited sandy-type resin, while maintaining extremely electric-type potency from the haze. The smell, instead of the typical Jacky-haze smell, is melon, coffee-sweat, sandalwood, and parmesan cheese, with a piff-type funk.
In 2020 we selected a male from another 48 seeds, beginning the work of inbreeding the original Hazelnut Cream selection.
We are working this line in every way possible in order to study its hybridization patterns and move forward future hash lines. We have created 47 hybrids with this cultivar so far, and plan to continue this work.
Some of our initial findings: Many of the F2 (90%) and F3 (50%) generation offspring exhibit high potency, wide-leaf drug types, that have terpinoline type terpene profiles. Backcrossing our F1 selection to the F3 has proven to reduce this terpinoline dominate terpene trait in the offspring, expressing limonene dominance, and (30%+) sandy resin type, just like the F1 type-plant. We continued this process an additional time in order to reduce the outcome of the terpinoline dominate terpene profiles, and capture the resin type (resilient/sandy) just like the F1 selection, but in male form, since we weren’t seeing it in the F2, or F3.
Hazelnut finishes for hash around 56 days, yielding 5-8% depending on how well it’s grown. For flower, it can be harvested around 63 days. Yields around 1000g wet/ plant indoors. Hazelnut Cream prefers to grow untopped. It has slightly slower vegetative growth, but puts on good stretch (1.5x) once it’s flowering.
Hazelnut produces hash that is around 89% total cannabinoids, with around 6% CBG adding to the electric-type effect. It’s top four terpenes are: Limonene, Linalool, Terpineol, and Myrcene.
